Ambergris Caye, Belize - May 2010
This was the last trip I lead for Ultimate Dive and Travel. Our group landed in Belize City, then it was a short plane ride to Ambergris Caye where we stayed at Ramon's Village Resort. Ramon's was great because of the island style atmosphere, thatched cabanas and especially, their on-site dive operation. Our group was split into two smaller groups for diving; the divemaster for each group was friendly, safe and knowledgeable. We dove local sites along Ambergris Caye - only a few minutes boat ride each day, with the exception of the day we dove the Great Blue Hole. That was an all day affair - a dive among the bull sharks to see the stalactites in the Blue Hole, followed by a surface interval at Half Moon Caye to see the Red Footed Boobies, and two dives on Lighthouse Reef. What an amazing day! Another highlight was snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Preserve where stingrays and turtles were abundant. The day before we left some of our group did a day trip to the Lamanai Ruins on the mainland while others stayed back and relaxed by the pool. This trip was "UnBelizeable"!
