Maui, Hawaii
Growing up on the island of Maui, swimming the Pacific Ocean was something I took for granted! I never learned to surf or free dive like my brothers. Instead I enjoyed the Pacific Ocean from the safety of shore, swimming where I could still touch the bottom. After I moved to Arizona, I took up scuba lessons and was certified in September 1989 off the coast of California. Never had I experienced such frigid water temperatures (I have never been back to dive California waters)! It was not until that November when I dove the crystal clear waters of Molokini Crater off the coast of Maui that I fell in love with diving. Since then, I have dove the many sites inside Molokini Crater as well as it's backwall. It was inside Molokini Crater that I saw my first manta ray! Diving in Maui offers so many options - Turtle Town and Turtle Reef, which run along the coastlines, Lanai dive sites and now the island of Molokai! If you're planning a trip to Maui, I can help you choose a place to stay and someone to dive with! Here are some pictures I've taken over the years. Maui No Ka Oi (Maui is the best)!
