Beqa Lagoon, Fiji - July 2009
Bula! This UDT trip started in Los Angeles and 10 hours later we landed in Nadi on the island of Viti Levu, Fiji. We hopped a bus for the 3 hours ride to the other side of the island where we boarded the boats that would take us from Pacific Harbour to Beqa island. By the time we got to Beqa Lagoon Resort, we were very ready for the warm welcome we received from the staff. Our bures were roomy and clean...the bed was so comfortable (I am still wondering how I can get it shipped to the U.S.)! The Beqa Lagoon dive sites were spectacular, teeming with fish and vibrant color. We did run into some current a couple of days, but it was a small price to pay to see the healthy soft coral and anenomes. One day we did the famous shark dive - we were not disappointed! I have never seen so many fish, lemon sharks, nurse sharks and bull sharks in one place. The tiger shark did not show up for us...but he did a few days later for another group staying at Beqa Lagoon. This trip is surely one to be repeated...maybe in 2013!
